Explore Huntingdonshire

The four main towns of Huntingdon and Godmanchester, Ramsey, St Ives and St Neots all have long and fascinating histories.  Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots nestle on the banks of the River Great Ouse, providing peaceful settings, combined with historical attractions, quality restaurants and cafes and individual shops.  Ramsey is in a unique setting on the edge of the Fens, offering the visitor a variety of inns and restaurants, shopping and a warm welcome.

Huntingdonshire also has a wealth of stunning villages nestled in the peaceful countryside.  Kimbolton is one of the larger villages in the area, with its historic High Street and castle, for more information about this pretty village visit their website.   Houghton is home to the National Trust owned Houghton Mill.  Set in a picturesque location on the banks of the river, Houghton Mill Tea Rooms provide a pleasant place to stop off for lunch.  Guided walks of each town can be arranged or if you prefer to walk around the towns yourself, copies of individual Town Trails can be downloaded from the Tourist Information page.

In Huntingdonshire the River Great Ouse covers a distance of 26 miles.  When first entering the district it winds its way through enchanting willow lined banks at St Neots passing through Paxton Pits Nature Reserve and under one of the few remaining working water mills - Houghton Mill - to the open Fenland at Earith.  Throughout the year the Environment Agency run many events along our waterways in the region.  To find out more about events visit the Visit Anglian Waterways website.
